Participative device journal

A collaboratively managed list allows for access to all maintenance and repair activities for specific devices of industrial companies.

  • Repair and management departments for specific devices of industrial companies
  • Mid-sized custom machine manufacturers that offer a maintenance and repair service with the machines they deliver
  • Fleet management

The interactive device list was developed for the internal maintenance and repair department for building technology at a large steel company. This department is responsible for several thousand air-conditioning and electrical devices at offices, industrial sites, and cranes. During the iterative development process for the interactive device list, it became apparent that employees and customers already benefit from the system at company sizes exceeding 20 devices and 5 employees.

Core functionalities of the interactive device list

Device overview

The device overview lists all jointly managed devices. The list is searchable through a simple keyword search function. In this configuration, the list provides an image of the device, its description, and more detailed information.

A well-informed beginning of the shift

After

The early shift starts at 6 a.m. The foreman Harald already arrived half-an-hour earlier. He prepares the necessary documents using what little time he has. The tasks are assigned at exactly 6 a.m. It rarely happens that Harald has enough time to properly prepare the tasks. This means that his colleagues Kim and Roland often miss vital information: Is this the first time a certain malfunction occurs? Who operated the machine before the malfunction occurred? What tools are necessary? Are there special characteristics to consider on-site? This means that employees often spend their time discussing about the missing information, instead of solving problems together and performing other tasks.

Before

It is 6 a.m. Kim and Roland arrive at the workshop and log into their tablet. They can directly see the work packages that have been prepared for them. At a glance, they are provided with all the necessary information as well as specifications on the tools and protective clothing they will need. On top of this, they can access the entire device history (who did what, and when), relevant contact persons, and directions. This way, Kim and Roland can directly start working out how to solve the problem together and discuss priorities with their foreman Harald. This information ensures that they no longer waste time looking for missing tools or a contact person on-site. All in all, the interactive shift list saves Kim and Roland time, paper, and stress.
